ARTIST STATEMENT

I work primarily in watercolour, exploring atmosphere, memory and the quiet traces of human presence within landscape and the built environment.

I am drawn to places that carry a sense of time and lived experience, using light, space and restrained colour to evoke stillness, transience and the emotional resonance of place.

I am drawn to places that carry a sense of time and lived experience, using light, space and restrained colour to evoke stillness, transience and the emotional resonance of place.

My work begins with an attentiveness to what remains: weathered architecture, passing light, overlooked spaces and the subtle evidence of lives lived within them. Rather than describing a place literally, I seek to hold its atmosphere — the point at which observation gives way to memory.

With an academic background in Art History and Visual Culture, my practice is also informed by a sustained engagement with visual culture and the histories of representation. I am particularly drawn to Asian aesthetic ideas of negative space and transience, alongside restrained, contemplative image-making.

BIOGRAPHY

Lezlie Neo is a Singapore-based visual artist working primarily in watercolour. She holds a Master’s degree in Art History and Visual Culture.

Lezlie Neo is a Singapore-based visual artist working primarily in watercolour. She holds a Master’s degree in Art History and Visual Culture.

Her work has received international recognition, including the International Watercolour Masters Rising Star Award 2026 and selection among the Top 100 artists of the III International Art Festival “Ríos de Color” 2026.

Her paintings have been selected for exhibitions including the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society 47th Annual International Juried Exhibition, the Museo de la Acuarela del Estado de México, the Singapore Watercolour Society 57th Annual Exhibition, International Watercolor Society Singapore, and other group exhibitions in Singapore and internationally.
